Gentlemen,
I have been building a 1964 Bussing (Borgward b2000) here in the USA. We have completed the engine and have some questions regarding the amount of oil for the rocker shaft and under the valve cover. With the rocker shaft removed the oil is pumped up to the head by a hole in the rear of the head. There appears to be enough pressure as oil is able to be pumped into a plastic tube and collected in a can. The rocker shaft is clear and is then installed and the valve cover is installed. We are getting very little oil through the rockers and are concerned that we have missed something. How much oil is suppose to be in the valve cover when running. The engine runs well all indicators are normal except that there is very little oil coming through the rockers and onto the valve stems. We don't know if this is normal for these engines or not. Can anyone shed some light on the amount of oil we should be seeing in the valve cover and rocker shaft? Is there something that we missed when assembling the motor? Is there something wrong with the oil pump? or is it normal for the rocker shaft to only have a little oil. American engines have more oil in the valve covers. This is why we are concerned. Please help! Please ask any questions. I will try and clarify if I can. I type this in English and hope that the translation is adequate. Thank you for your time.
